Wellington International Airport is located eight kilometres southeast of downtown Wellington in the suburb of Rongotai.. International flights operate to and from four Australian destinations – Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne – as well as Fiji. Domestic flights are provided by Air New Zealand, Qantas, Sounds Air, Air2there and Air West Coast.

Bus
Approximately $4.50 per adult – about 20 minutes
The Stagecoach ‘Airport Flyer’ service runs from the airport every 30 minutes from 6.20am to 8.20pm Monday – Friday; and every hour or half hour from 6.50am to 8.50pm on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. The route passes through the city centre and continues north as far as Upper Hutt. The fare depends on how far you are travelling. From the airport to the city centre it is $4.50 per adult and $2.50 for children (five to 15 years old). The adult fare all the way to Upper Hutt is $10.
Shuttle
Approximately $17 for one person, $22 for two – about 25 minutes. A shuttle is a cost effective way to travel into the city. Discounts apply if two or more people are travelling together – $5 per additional person. Shuttles are normally shared with other passenger groups. The journey between the airport and the city centre can take up to 40 minutes at peak traffic times or when there are several drop-offs along the way. Allow plenty of time to reach the airport for departing flights.
Taxi
Approximately $30 to $40 – about 20 minutes. The journey between the airport and central city can take up to 40 minutes during peak traffic periods. If you’re travelling to the airport by taxi, make sure you allow plenty of time. Taxis licensed to operate from the airport have met the airport company’s quality and area knowledge standards.
Car rental
Major rental car companies operate from the terminal building. Bookings are strongly recommended.
